What kind of community do you want to live in? Would you like to live where you feel safe, accepted and respected? How important would it be for you to feel like you belong? What would it be like to be excluded from a community and denied basic freedoms because of your differences?

Sadly, this is what many adults with developmental disabilities experience in our communities everyday. PDD South along with all our community partners would like to change that. We picture a future where people with developmental disabilities are fully included in the life of a community.

We believe that true recognition, acceptance and inclusion are the responsibility of our community as a whole, including developmentally disabled adults. To this end, PDD South strives to assist individuals by offering them a presence in the community through:

  • Where and how they live
  • Where they work
  • Activities they engage in
  • Community activities
We help to create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to show what they have to offer. We believe that this, perhaps more than anything, will help all citizens to become aware that people with developmental disabilities are important and are able to make meaningful contributions to the community in which we all live.
