To understand who we support, it's important to know how PDD South defines a developmental disability.
A state of functioning that begins before age 18 and is characterized by significant limitations in both intellectual capacity and adaptive skills.
We look at three things when we are determining whether or not an individual qualifies for PDD South support:
- Did the developmental disability begin prior to age 18?
- Is the individual significantly below average in intellectual capacity?
- Are there related limitations in two or more adaptive skill areas?
Individuals receiving support from PDD South have to live in one of the communities within our region. Our regional boundaries extend from the British Columbia border west to the Saskatchewan border, south to the United States border and north to Nanton in the west and Bassano in the east.
If your town/community is not listed below or you are unsure of the region in which you reside, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

In 2004-05, PDD South provided supports to 1047 adults who received services from 29 urban and rural service providers. Our budget for 2004-05 was $50.8 million dollars.
